Flew from JFK to Charles DeGaulle.






PARIS*GENEVA*LAUSANNE 
Then flew to Geneva where my car pick up took me to the Lausanne Palace Hotel. Rested and waited then went walking with my traveling companion, a classmate from U.P., then went to dinner at Brasserie Le Cygne where I started with a glass of Swiss beer and Escargots de Bourgogne beurre persillè followed by Salade Verte accompagnè de 3 Malakoffs (green salad with breaded balls of gruyère cheese).

LAUSSANNE 
After a nice breakfast (cappuccino, eggs benedict with salmon, croissant, o.j.) we went walking in the city center. First was a visit to the Cathedral of Laussanne, constructed during the XII and XIII centuries, consecrated 20th October 1275 in the presence of Pope Gregory X and Rudolf of Habsburg. It became a Protestant cathedral in 1536. Then went to the University of Laussanne, founded in 1537 as a school of theology, before being made a university in 1890. Later on we walked to Ouchy and Lake Geneva where I rented a paddle boat. Took the subway back to the hotel for the Tauck group cocktail party and Welcome Dinner.


PERLAN Next is the Perlan, a prominent landmark situated on top of Öskjuhlíð hill. Originally a cluster of hot water tanks in 1991, it was converted to a building open to the public that hosts an exhibition, a planetarium, an observation deck, and a restaurant.
